    Stems quadrangular, not branching, covered with long retrorse simple hairs and with or without retrorse rigid prickles, with or without glandular hairs

    Leaves narrowly oblong to oblonglanceolate, 0.7–4.3 × 0.4–2.2 cm, appressed to stem or ascending, margin crenate, ± revolute, apex obtuse, base cordate to truncate in younger leaves, densely to laxly covered with long simple hairs, with or without glandular hairs; petioles 1–14 mm long, pubescent

    Inflorescence terminal, lax; verticils (2–)6-flowered, 3–38 mm apart; bracts similar to cauline leaves or ovate to lanceolate, 3–16 mm long, 1.5–4 mm wide; bracteoles 0.5–1.5(–2) mm long, pubescent; pedicels 0.5–2 mm long, pubescent

    Calyx patent or slightly ascending, campanulate, 4–6.5 mm long at anthesis, scarcely longer in fruit, pubescence of simple hairs, sometimes with glandular hairs; teeth triangular, 1–1.5 mm long, spinescent

    Corolla white, 5–15 mm long, outer surface sparsely pubescent except densely pubescent posterior lip; tube (3–)6–8 mm long; anterior lip (2–3–)5–8 mm long; posterior lip (1–)2–5 mm long
