    Aromatic, erect, perennial, rhizomatous woody herb, 0.2–0.5(–1.2) m tall
    Stems quadrangular, branching throughout the length of the plant, with dendroid hairs
    Leaves subsessile or petiolate, oblong-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate or rarely ovate, 1.6–8.5 × 0.5–4 cm, crenate to subentire, apex acute to rounded, base cuneate to rounded or truncate, with tomentose or flocculose indumentum of both dendroid and/or stellate hairs; petiole 5–30 mm long, pubescent
    Inflorescence tending to be lax, with 6–8-flowered verticils 0.5–5 cm apart; bracts similar to cauline leaves but smaller, sometimes absent; bracteoles 0.5(–7) mm long or absent, pubescence of dendroid hairs; pedicels 0.5–4.5 mm long
    Calyx patent to slightly ascending, 5–8 mm long, campanulate to funnel-shaped, pubescent with dendroid to stellate hairs and sometimes with long simple hairs between the lobes, not noticeably lengthening in fruit or up to 9 mm long, broadening in fruit; teeth triangular, 2–4 mm long, spinsecent
    Corolla mauve to pink or purplish, fading to white or yellow, 12–15 mm long, with stellate hairs on outer surface; tube 5–8 mm long; anterior lip 5–10 mm long, deflexed; posterior lip 2–4 mm long
    Style 6 mm long
    Nutlets dark brown, 2–2.5 mm long, broadly ovoid.
