    Habit
    Plants 20–35 cm high.
    Corms
    Corms unknown.
    Leaves
    Foliage leaves 4–5, the lower 2–3 basal and with long blades reaching at least to the base of the spike, sometimes exceeding it, (basal leaves occasionally burned off and then apparently lacking); sheaths, especially the lower, conspicuously ribbed; blades 1–1.5 mm wide, terete, the margins and midrib heavily thickened (the blades thus narrowly longitudinally 4-grooved), edges of the raised parts sometimes ciliate; upper leaves 2–3, inserted above ground and entirely sheathing, decreasing in size above, widely spaced, the uppermost 15–30 mm long.

    Stem erect, unbranched, usually straight.
    Inflorescences
    Spike (2)3–6-flowered; bracts completely green or dry and brownish above, 9–14 mm long, the inner somewhat shorter than the outer.
    Flowers
    Flowers pale-pink or purplish, the 2 lower lateral tepals each with a yellow transverse band across the lower part of the limb and darker-pink distally; perianth tube c. 9 mm long, curving outward between the bracts, widening gradually toward the mouth; tepals unequal, the uppermost c. 20 mm long, larger than the others and arched over the stamens, the upper lateral tepals smaller, directed forward and ultimately curving outwards, the 3 lower tepals horizontal or down-curved, joined for c. 3 mm, limbs fairly abruptly expanded in the upper half, the lowermost tepal c. 18 × c. 7 mm, the lower lateral tepals c. 15 × c. 3 mm.
    Stamens
    Filaments c. 15 mm long, exserted for 5 mm; anthers c. 6.5 mm long with an apiculum c. 0.5 mm long.
    Style
    Style dividing toward the apex of the anthers; style branches c. 3 mm long.
    Fruits
    Capsules unknown.
